Potato Vada / Potato Dumplings


Just as Mango is the king of fruits , I always feel that POTATO is the king of Vegetables.
There will hardly be anyone who dislikes the taste of potato and items made out of potato.
Here comes one such yummy recipe made out of the KING of VEGGIES.

Preparation Time : 30 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves : 3-4

Potato vadas / Potato dumplings

Ingredients

3-4 medium sized potatoes (boiled and mashed)
2-4 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
curry leaves
corriander leaves
salt as per taste
1 cup chick peas flour/besan/kadalai maav
Oil for frying.

Method


  • Add the red chilli powder,turmeric powder,chopped corriander,curry leaves ,salt to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  • In another bowl,add about 1/2 cup water,salt,chilli powder to the chick peas flour and mix well.
  • Ensure that there are no lumps in the batter.
  • Heat oil in a kadai / wok.
  • Make lemon sized balls from the potato filling and immerse it in the chick peas batter.See to it that the batter forms a thick coat around the potato and put in the oil and fry until it turns golden brown.
  • Serve hot with mint sauce or tomato sauce.
